Which is the Gaelic tag line for the province of Nova Scotia, meaning “One Hundred Thousand Welcomes”, and underscores our Maritime tradition of hospitality. Our small Canadian province is on the Eastern Seaboard perched upon the Atlantic Ocean, and is a base for The Royal Canadian Navy. The regional Nova Scotia chapter of the Jane Austen Society of North America, is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, although we are delighted to have members residing in the neighbouring Maritime province of Prince Edward Island.
We are one of 10 Canadian regions of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) which make up JASNA Canada, highlighting the Canadian component and the other regions, which are: Calgary http://www.jasnacalgary.ca; Edmonton; London; Manitoba http://jasnawpg.wixsite.com/jasna-winnipeg

In order to become involved in our region, membership is required in JASNA (Please see the tab, About JASNA).
As we are a small group, we are able to meet several times a year in the hospitable comfort of our members’ living rooms, to discuss Jane Austen’s works, related books and papers. We not only meet to discuss the novels and the minor works, but there are other activities, such as The Strawberry Afternoon Tea and our Indoor Box Hill Picnic. We were also extremely pleased to have participated in lectures at Dalhousie University and Halifax Central Library, by distinguished speakers.
